Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Ruhengeri – Volcanoes National Park
On arrival, you will be met by our company representative and transfer to Ruhengeri – the nearest place to Volcanoes National Park found in the northern province of Rwanda. The journey is a 3 hours drive from Kigali. You will check in into your hotel and then do an optional community tour around Ruhengeri for a Rwanda cultural experience or unwind and spend the evening at leisure.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking – Volcanoes National Park
On the second day of this Rwanda safari, you will enjoy early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00am. After briefing, you will start your gorilla trekking journey accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the mountain gorillas; this takes 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas however, the guides will try to find them from where they were last seen the previous day! You will spend 1 hour with these gentle giants and later return to your lodge to refresh and relax as you savoir the memories of your trek. In the evening, expand your understanding of gorillas through an in-depth lecture from one of the head wardens of Volcanoes National Park.
Day 3: Transfer to Kigali & Airport Drop-off
You will enjoy breakfast and transfer back to Kigali city where you will do a city tour and visit places like the Museum, Genocide memorials, and the handcraft markets for souvenir shopping. Later on, you will proceed to the airport for your onward flight.
