Overview & Highlights
Safaris Highlights
Naivasha has been one of most popular weekend getaway for domestic travellers. Lake Naivasha (not a park), Hells Gate National Park, Crater Lake Game Sanctuary, the world's reknown 'walking' park Crescent Island, all in close proximity offer a wide variety of attractions and endless activities. Hells Gate National Park is home to Olkaria Geothermal Stations which are Africa's largest. Within is the Mvuke Spa, Africa's largest natural spa. Oserengoni wildlife sanctuary is also a wildlife conservation sensation. Naivasha and Masai Mara are a good choice for those who choose to have adventure, simple relaxation and wellness travel & the wildlife galore of Mara.
Did you know that Lara Croft's 'Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life' was shot on location in the mesmerizingly beautiful Hells Gate National Park? And so was King Solomon's Mines. The Savannah landscapes, the signature whistling thorn and acacia umbrella trees stark the landscapes with resilience and are symbolic flora of Africa.
Lake Naivasha is the second largest and highest of all Great Rift Valley lakes. It is a fresh water lake and is surrounded by two other smaller lakes, Lake Oloidien and Lake Sonachi. Flamingoes inhabit Oloidien. Lake Naivasha National Park itself is also a diverse bird and animal habitat, with the lake itself supporting animals such as hippo and over 200 species of birds. One of the key activities you cannot afford to miss are the enjoyable boat rides and water sports at the lake and two of the most interesting activities is a Hells Gate National Park cycling, hike on the two major circuits, climb the Fischer's Tower Rock - or a walk on Crescent Island, a pristine wilderness with a variety of animals.
The Joy Adamson Conservation Center at Elsamere is equally good to schedule for a visit. The afternoon 'high tea' is great refresher and a highlight of Elsamere.
