Red Maasai Safari - Amboseli, Naivasha & Masai Mara

Trip Adventure Details

Overview

Amboseli is Kenya’s most photogenic park. The amazing backdrop vistas of Mt. Kilimanjaro (Africa’s highest mountain) is breathtaking. Amboseli is known for its vast herds of elephants and is home to Dr. Cynthia Moss's Amboseli Trust for Elephants, a sensational conservation and research center you ought to visit. She is also known for her book The Amboseli Elephants and Elephant Memories. Learn interesting facts about Elephants here. Birds of Amboseli are thrilling, we have compiled a gallery to showcase those we photographed during the last visit. Amboseli is home to the red-clad Maasai people. A great opportunity to have them up-close, learn their culture and marvel at their wilderness survival skills.

The Red Maasai Safari is a 6  Day Amboseli, Naivasha and Masai Mara Safari and is one of the most popular safaris undertaken by holiday makers in Kenya.  For all elephant lovers (like us), a visit to Amboseli is not just part of an itinerary but a great chance to learn about these amazing beasts that range freely from Amboseli to miles further into neighbouring parks of Tsavo West. In a private 4x4  safari you are bound to enjoy the park combination and attractions to the utmost.

Did you know that Lara Croft's 'Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life' was shot on location in the mesmerizingly beautiful Hells Gate National Park in Naivasha? And so was King Solomon's Mines, and Lion King (Disney) and Out of Africa (shot in Crescent Island). Naivasha boasts of one of Africa's largest geothermal power plant, the Olkaria II. The belching fumes of the entire field produces 700 megawatts, the largest in Africa. Ranked 9th globally, the Olkaria Geothermal field is set to be world's largest when fully completed.

Lake Naivasha is the second largest and highest of all Great Rift Valley lakes. It is a fresh water lake and is surrounded by two other smaller lakes, Lake Oloidien and Lake Sonachi. Flamingoes inhabit Oloidien. Lake Naivasha National Park itself is also a diverse bird and animal habitat, with the lake itself supporting animals such as hippo and over 200 species of birds. The lake is also known for fishing though this is subject to restrictions to preserve fish stock. One of the key activities you cannot afford to miss are the enjoyable boat rides and water sports at the lake and two of the most interesting activities is a Hells Gate National Park hike and a walk on Crescent Island, a pristine wilderness with a variety of animals.

The Joy Adamson Conservation Center at Elsamere is equally good to schedule for a visit. The afternoon 'high tea' is great refresher and is served there with an evening boat ride before retiring at Elsamere Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Red Maasai Safari gives you 2 nights at Amboseli, 1 memorable night at Naivasha, and 2 amazing nights in Masai Mara National Reserve. This means ample time traversing these parks that are known to be some of the worlds best game spotting parks. A traveller cannot ignore the hundreds of different species of birds that find life and survival up the skies of a true wilderness.
